ICD 11 codes by the year 2018
Another important fact is that, the World Health Organization is planning to release ICD 11 codes by the year 2018. By the way this does not mean that the health care professionals in US will immediately shift to ICD 11 codes in the year 2018. Moreover ICD 10 codes were added to the code sets in order to ensure proper reimbursement and the needs for reporting. This is reason for having much number of ICD 10 CM codes instead of ICD 10 codes.
It will take time
Many have been thinking about ICD 11 codes because there are a lot of things to update and serious of changes have to be done. Experts say that it will take at least 2020 to use ICD 11 codes. Even then the regulatory process should be gone through for it which is also quite time consuming and will take time so there is no chance to implement it in the near future.
